Short Bio
Dr. Barnaby Joseph Dye is a British Academy Global Innovation Fellow in DGAP’s Center for Geopolitics, Geoeconomics, and Technology. His work there focuses on India’s international relations and implications for Germany and Europe.
His research analyzes the intersection of foreign policy, corporate actors, and development cooperation to shape the key drivers, policies, and logics of India’s international relations. As an academic, Dye’s focus has been on India’s global south relations, particularly with Africa. This combines extensive research done on the continent, analyzing international ties from both Indian and African country perspectives. At DGAP, Dye will use this deep expertise to analyze policy implications for Germany and the EU, which are attempting to boost relations with India.
Dye is on secondment from a permanent lectureship at King’s College London where he is a lecturer (equivalent of assistant professor). He is a member of the UK’s India & South Asia Analysts Network and advises the UK government.
